Project Overview
MEC NT delivered a full sports lighting upgrade for the Yuendumu Softball Oval, commissioned by the Central Desert Regional Council. The project included the design, supply, and installation of new lighting infrastructure to enhance community sporting facilities in a remote regional setting.
Challenge
- Remote location logistics for materials and workforce
- Coordination with community schedules and events
- Compliance with safety and electrical standards in a regional context
- Delivery within a tight timeframe and budget
Solution
- Marked out and cleared all cable routes for the new lighting system
- Constructed and connected a new three-phase power supply
- Supplied and installed lighting control systems, conduits, columns, light fittings, and cabling
- Completed all testing and commissioning to ensure optimal performance and compliance
- Engaged a team including 3 A Grade Electricians, 2 Electrical Apprentices, and an Operator, supporting local employment and skills development
Results
- Safe, reliable, and energy-efficient sports lighting for the Yuendumu community
- Delivered on time and within budget, with no lost time injuries (LTIs)
- Enhanced amenity and usability of the oval for community sport and events
- Full compliance documentation and successful handover to the client
