Project Overview


MEC NT undertook the electrical and communications scope for the Tindal Military Working Dog Kennels project at RAAF Base Tindal. The works included electrical services for external and building areas, hazardous area compliance, and integrated communications infrastructure. The project required coordination with Defence stakeholders and adherence to strict security and compliance standards.

Challenge


The project involved delivering electrical and communications upgrades within a secure Defence environment. Challenges included: 


  • Managing hazardous area compliance for kennel facilities. 


  • Coordinating installation of electrical and comms systems under strict security protocols. 



  • Ensuring minimal disruption to base operations while meeting Defence standards.

Solution


MEC NT provided a comprehensive solution: 


  • Installed electrical reticulation for kennel buildings and external areas, including lighting and power distribution. 


  • Delivered communications infrastructure per Defence specifications, including surge protection and secure cabling. 


  • Applied QA processes and hazardous area management to ensure compliance with AS/NZS standards. 



  • Coordinated procurement and installation of lighting systems and associated gear, as detailed in project quotes.
