Project Overview

MEC NT undertook a comprehensive electrical infrastructure project for the Mount Bundy Training Area (MBTA), delivering sitewide upgrades to support operational requirements and future scalability. The scope included high-voltage (HV) reticulation.

Challenge

The project required extensive HV electrical works across a large, remote site. Key challenges included:

  • Coordinating with multiple stakeholders under Defence compliance frameworks.

  • Managing logistics for HV pole installation and underground reticulation.

  • Ensuring safety and quality through structured ITPs and audits.

  • Delivering works in a remote environment with strict timelines.

Solution

MEC NT provided a turnkey solution:

  • Installed HV and electrical infrastructure, including pole mount & kiosk substations.

  • Applied rigorous QA processes including compliance documentation.

  • Managed workforce induction, WHS compliance, and stakeholder reporting throughout the project.

Results

  • Reliable electrical infrastructure supporting Defence operations.

  • Enhanced site safety and compliance with Australian standards.

  • Comprehensive documentation and handover package for ongoing maintenance.

  • Successful delivery within agreed timelines and budget.
