Scope

Design and installation of four 30m lighting towers with floodlights, distribution board, and underground reticulation

Timeline

 Jun 2022 to July 2022

Scope

Electrical component of new street lighting installation including standing of 28 poles (27×12 m with 3 m outreach; 1×9 m with 4.5 m outreach), termination of Philips RoadFlair luminaires with TELENSA Telecells, service pole and switchpack installation, cable hauling/termination, testing, commissioning, traffic management, and handover documentation.

Challenge

  • Coordinate installation along an active urban corridor, maintaining safety and access while executing cable hauling and pole standing.

  • Integrate principal‑supplied assets (poles, outreaches, luminaires, Telecells) and meet City of Darwin programme.

  • Complete testing/commissioning and documentation to City standards with minimal disruption.

Solution

  • Scope & materials: Delivered the electrical component per the tender scope; principal supplied poles, outreaches, luminaires, Telecells and 9 m service pole.

  • Traffic & permits: Prepared TMPs and Traffic Guidance Schemes; executed works under COD road‑reserve requirements.

  • Installation: Stood poles, terminated switchpacks/surge units, hauled and terminated multi‑phase streetlight cabling across pits, and installed control equipment (Telecell).

  • Commissioning & handover: Completed testing/commissioning; issued Certificate of Compliance and As‑Constructed electrical drawings for the corridor.

  • Commercial: Managed COD purchase order, progress claims, and a small variation for re‑mobilisation to stand a specific pole (SD0171).

Results

  • Improved lighting coverage and safety along Boulter Road with modern LED luminaires and smart Telecell controls.

  • Documented compliance and handover through CoC, As‑Constructed drawings, and traffic records.

  • Programme aligned delivery under COD contract terms with transparent claims and variation management.
