Project Overview
MEC NT was engaged to deliver high-voltage electrical infrastructure upgrades at RAAF Base Tindal, Katherine, NT, as part of broader Defence and civil works. The scope included installation and commissioning of HV feeder lines, switchboards, and communications infrastructure, supporting base operations and future expansion.
Challenge
- Delivering HV upgrades within a secure Defence environment, requiring strict compliance and access controls.
- Managing power and communications isolation/disconnection without disrupting base operations.
- Navigating complex underground services and ensuring all works met Defence and Australian standards.
- Coordinating with Defence Support Group and principal contractors to align with broader base upgrade schedules.
Solution
- Detailed site surveys and service location to map existing power and communications infrastructure.
- Managed all isolation and disconnection works, ensuring safety and compliance at every stage.
- Installed new HV feeder cables, RMU, Conduit & Pit Reticulation
- Provided project management, documentation, and compliance support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintained clear communication with Defence and principal contractors to ensure seamless integration with other works.
